Heirloom Tomatoes

Homegrown heirloom tomato varieties are prized for their unique flavors and vibrant colors, and each of the varieties has its own distinct characteristics. We grow about 20 varieties and these five are our favorites. Cherokee Purple tomatoes have a rich, earthy flavor that is very sweet. They are a deep, reddish-purple color with a slightly flattened shape, and their flesh is juicy and tender. Mr. Stripey tomatoes have a yellow base with red stripes that give them a striking appearance. They have a sweet and slightly tangy flavor that is both rich and complex. Brandywine tomatoes are known for their pinkish-red color and their rich, sweet flavor. They have a juicy and meaty flesh that is perfect for slicing and adding to sandwiches or salads. Aunt Ruby's German Green tomatoes have a yellow-green color and a complex flavor that is our favorite to put on BLT sandwiches. Purple Russian tomatoes are a deep purple color with a rich, sweet flavor that is both bold and complex. They have a meaty texture and are great for slicing and adding to sandwiches or grilling. Freshly picked Green Zebra heirloom tomatoes are a unique and delicious variety of tomato that is unlike any other. These tomatoes are small to medium-sized with a bright green skin that has dark green stripes, giving them a distinctive appearance. These are our absolute favorite tomatoes to use making salsa. The tart flavor of the tomatoes pairs well with herbs like basil, oregano, and thyme, as well as with acidic ingredients like lemon juice or vinegar. Overall, each of these heirloom tomato varieties offers a unique flavor and appearance that makes them a delightful addition to any recipe.
